Bode George, former military Governor of Ondo State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to recent comments made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Akpabio had mocked the PDP and referred to it as defunct while welcoming former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa into the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said Okowa had “seen the light” by leaving the PDP, where he once served as vice presidential candidate.
However, according to a report by Punch on Sunday, July 6, 2025 George dismissed Akpabio’s statement. He said Nigerians are fully aware that Okowa’s move to APC was driven by fear or pressure.
George said there is statement former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, once made in the past which can explain the real reason why Okowa decided to join the APC now. He said, “You think Nigerians don’t know why Okowa had to run for cover? Go back and listen to the statement made by Oshiomhole”.
