Respected elder statesman and former APC chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, has stirred national attention with his remarks on the rising political ambitions ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a candid address, Akande pointed out that key figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar are all gearing up to return to the race. He, however, challenged Nigerians to reflect deeply before throwing their support behind anyone.

“These men all want to lead, but the real issue is who truly deserves to lead Nigeria,” Akande said, noting that the country cannot afford to make another emotional or sentimental choice.

According to him, Nigeria’s future must be placed in the hands of someone who is not just popular, but capable, visionary, and committed to real transformation.

He emphasized that elections are not just about names and past positions, but about competence and the willingness to serve with integrity and courage. While Amaechi, Obi, and Atiku have all had their moments on the national stage, Akande urged citizens to judge them not by past speeches or appearances, but by their record, values, and genuine plans for the nation.

He warned against being carried away by promises and campaign noise, urging Nigerians to seek a leader who can unite the country, fight corruption without compromise, and tackle the economic hardship facing the masses. Akande’s message comes as political consultations quietly intensify across the country. Although none of the three men have officially declared their ambitions, their recent activities suggest 2027 may witness another heavyweight political battle.
