Datti Baba Ahmed, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has shared his opinion on the speculation that President Bola Tinubu may decide not to choose Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in the 2027 presidential election.
In an interview with Arise TV, Baba Ahmed said he understands why Tinubu might not want Shettima to be his running mate in 2027. He said anyone who truly knows what Shettima has done in the past would know that Tinubu has shown remarkable patience by keeping Shettima as his vice president until now. He also said that in politics, people sometimes do unbelievable things just to gain or hold on to power
In Ahmed’s words: “About Shettima, I don’t blame Tinubu because whoever knows what Shettima did and does will not even allow him to last this long. The airwaves cannot carry it and I know I am speaking on TV. So Tinubu has tried for keeping him this long so even the consideration that he he should be dropped, I think Tinubu has tried for keeping him this long. I wish I could say it but what people do for power is unbelievable.
