A political expert, Professor Jideofor Adibe, has stated that the new ADC-led opposition coalition includes strong and experienced politicians as reported by Daily Post on Thursday, 3rd July, 2025.
He pointed out that these leaders have records of bold moves in Nigerian politics.
Professor Adibe made the statements during a recent interview where he discussed the current political developments ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State and now interim Secretary of the ADC, played a key role in the defeat of APC in Osun.
According to him, Aregbesola’s actions greatly affected President Bola Tinubu’s political base in the state, he added that Aregbesola’s influence cannot be ignored.
The expert said his fallout with Tinubu had serious effects on the APC’s strength in the region.
Adibe also praised Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and ex-presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
He described Obi as quiet but very strong, he explained that Obi’s nickname, Okwute, means “rock” in Igbo.
The professor said people should not be misled by Obi’s soft voice or calm appearance.
He recalled that Obi fought and defeated powerful political godfathers in Anambra when he was governor.
Adibe said Obi’s past battles show he is not afraid of tough political fights.
He also mentioned that Obi’s courage and strategy make him an important part of the coalition.
The expert believes the group is made up of tested and determined leaders.
He said even though the road ahead is difficult, the ADC coalition should not be underestimated.
“Aregbesola is credited with being the brain behind Tinubu losing Osun State. Then you look at Peter Obi. Don’t be deceived by his tiny voice and his gentle mien. His nickname is Okwute, which means rock. As governor of Anambra state, he wrestled godfathers,” he said.
