Popular Nollywood actress Azeezat Shorunmu has opened up about a deeply personal chapter in her life, sharing details of a past relationship with a fellow actor. During a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, she spoke about how the relationship, which lasted nearly a decade, eventually came to an unexpected end.
According to Shorunmu, the relationship did not begin on a movie set, despite both of them being in the film industry. She explained that they met outside of work and developed a strong connection over time. The bond grew so deep that she believed it would eventually lead to marriage.
However, after nine years together, the actor ended the relationship, leaving her heartbroken. The breakup came as a surprise to her, especially given how long they had been together. She had invested years of her life into the relationship, only to be left without the commitment she had hoped for.
Shorunmu also disclosed that the actor later came back to apologize for his actions. While the apology was acknowledged, she made it clear that the timing was off and that too much had changed for them to pick up where they left off. She stated that they are now just friends and nothing more.
For Shorunmu, the experience was both painful and enlightening, shaping her perspective on love, trust, and personal growth. Despite the disappointment, Shorunmu appeared composed and resolute during the interview, choosing to focus on moving forward with her life.
She said, “When I left Funke Akindele’s theatre group, I met an actor, but we didn’t meet each other on a movie set. I was dating an actor, I thought he would marry me but he left me after 9 years of dating. Although he later came to apologize to me, it was too late, and we are just friends now.
