With the 2027 general elections drawing closer, Nigeria’s political terrain is already undergoing subtle but strategic realignments. Amid the unfolding drama, one figure continues to command unwavering loyalty and growing national attention—former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
His enduring influence, especially in the northern region, has become a cornerstone in political calculations as major parties position themselves for the coming contest.
During a recent appearance on Channels Television, Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada, the National Coordinator of Project Save Nigeria and a trusted ally of Kwankwaso, offered rare insight into the political strength and discipline of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
Sharada spoke with conviction about the enduring bond between Kwankwaso and his supporters, highlighting that their loyalty transcends party affiliations.
“They’re ready to follow him because they believe in him, and he won’t let them suffer,” Sharada stated, emphasizing that the foundation of the movement lies not in partisan politics but in the integrity and performance history of its leader.
According to Sharada, the trust Kwankwaso has earned from his followers is rooted in years of pragmatic governance, sincerity of purpose, and consistent advocacy for pro-people policies.
Sharada also revealed that various political blocs—including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and emerging political formations—have been making overtures to Kwankwaso, seeking his involvement in their 2027 strategies.
He hinted that some recent political developments, including the resignation of APC National Chairman Umar Ganduje, may not be coincidental. Many analysts view Ganduje’s exit as a potential opening created to lure Kwankwaso back to the APC, given the longstanding rivalry between the two Kano political figures.
Despite these advances, Sharada made it clear that Kwankwaso is not driven by personal ambition or political bargaining. He emphasized that any decision the former senator makes will be rooted in a desire to deliver real solutions to Nigeria’s most pressing challenges.
“He is open to dialogue, but any decision must benefit the masses,” Sharada reiterated, underlining Kwankwaso’s reputation as a principled leader who places national interest above partisan considerations.
Observers believe that Kwankwaso’s influence, especially among the youth and working-class voters in the North, could prove decisive in tipping the electoral scale in 2027.
