Prominent human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has taken a jab at Nyesom Wik and prominent Labour Party political figures, Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa following the decision by a coalition of opposition leaders to adopt the African Democratic Congress as their political base.
In a pointed post on X, Adeyanju wrote, “They will be so confused right now and thinking of how to start crisis in ADC.”
The statement which quickly gained attention online, appears to criticize Wike, Abure and Apapa, key players in the protracted internal conflict that fractured the, PDP, Labour Party in the lead-up to the next general elections.
Adeyanju’s remarks came shortly after the coalition reportedly made up of politicians, activists and civil society actors announced its alignment with the ADC as a unified front for future political engagement. The decision has been widely seen as an attempt to establish a stronger, more credible opposition in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
His tweet implies that the kind of internal wrangling witnessed in other parties especially the PDP, the LP under Abure and Apapa could now be directed at ADC, potentially threatening its stability. Though Adeyanju did not offer further details, the insinuation was clear: those previously associated with political disruption may now be eyeing the ADC.
Supporters of the coalition have praised the move as strategic, while Adeyanju’s warning serves as a reminder of the fragile nature of party unity in Nigeria’s political landscape.
As reactions continue to trail his comment, many observers believe the ADC must remain vigilant against infiltration or internal sabotage as its profile rises.
