Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has declared that Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, represents a unique opportunity for Nigeria to experience a leader who not only makes promises but keeps them. Tanko made this assertion during an interview on Arise TV on July 1, 2025, where he emphasized Obi’s integrity and ability to unify the nation, particularly at a time when ethnic and regional tensions continue to deepen.

“Peter Obi will break the jinx of politicians who make promises and never keep them,” Tanko said confidently. “He is one leader whose words match his actions.”

He went on to highlight the alienation felt by many in the South-East region, adding that Obi’s emergence as president could serve as a major turning point in Nigeria’s national healing and unity.

“The people of the South-East feel annihilated; if we all agree that Peter Obi becomes president, that act will be a single unifying factor for the country,” Tanko stated.

According to Tanko, the political establishment has for too long recycled leadership without addressing the real needs of the people. He argued that Obi stands out due to his transparency, vision, and record of public service. He noted that the Obidient Movement remains steadfast in pushing for credible leadership and believes Obi’s presidency would mark a new chapter for Nigeria — one focused on accountability, inclusiveness, and national progress.

The remarks come amid rising speculation about a possible opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, where Obi is expected to be a key player.
