Yunusa Tanko, a close associate of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has emphasized that his support for Obi is rooted in personal experience rather than hearsay.

During an interview with AIT from 11:06, he explained that he was present in Anambra State during Peter Obi’s tenure as governor and witnessed firsthand the governance and principles that defined Obi’s administration.

Tanko noted that as someone who has been active in politics for over 30 years and has been a presidential candidate, his decision to align with Obi speaks volumes about his conviction.

He described himself as a committed leftist, expressing strong belief in the ideals and values Obi upheld. According to him, his support is based on what he personally observed, not what he was told.

He said, “I’ve been in politics for more than 30 years. I’ve been a presidential candidate myself. For me to have aligned myself with Peter Obi, that speaks volumes. I’m a strong leftist, I believe strongly because of the ideals and the principles of what he has been able to put in place, and I was not told. It’s something that I saw. I’ve been to Anambra when he was a governor, I’ve seen all of these things myself.”
