Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide, indicated in an exclusive interview with Channels Television that strike action should be the last option for organized labor to press home their demands.

During the interview, Okupe said that “Labour has done so well for now, but I want Labour to change this colonial mentality with which Labour grew up and became a force. It is not Labour versus a foreign government; it is Labour versus the Nigerian government, and there is nothing that cannot be negotiated; it may be difficult. I have said it before, and I am saying it again: massive strike action should be the very last weapon labor should employ.

He further added that “whatever government of the day should not wait until there is a threat to national survival before they listen to Labour or anybody. Anyone who is protesting the government should develop listening ears and dialogue with them. This is the instrument that civilized societies employ….Sée Móre
