Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has stated that Bola Tinubu once had a close relationship with late military Head of State, General Sani Abacha

In an interview with Channels TV, Sowore said that he recently watch a video of retired Brigadier General Olagunsoye Oyinlola saying there was once a plan during Abacha’s regime for him (Oyinlola) to become a military governor, and for Tinubu to serve as his deputy.

In Sowore’s words: “Tinubu was close to Abacha. The reason I am saying so is that I also listened to Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He spoke in Yoruba, I just watched it this morning where he said Tinubu’s was supposed to be his deputy if Abacha hadn’t died. They had this arrangement where they wanted to have a diarchy, where he would be the military governor and Tinubu was supposed to be his deputy. He just said that publicly, I watched it this morning, it is a recent interview”
