Dr. Bolaji O. Akinyemi, a political analyst and convener of the Apostolic Round Table, has shared his views on the efforts to register the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as a new political party in Nigeria, during an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT.

He also expressed concerns about Nigeria’s democratic system and the challenges ahead for new political movements.

Dr. Akinyemi praised the formation of ADA, calling it a smart step in political restructuring.

He linked its foundation to ideas discussed at the 2024 Apostolic Round Table, where economic policies based on agricultural symbols like “Agbado” (corn) were suggested.

According to him, the use of “Agbado” as the party’s logo is a bold move.

He suggested that if a strong candidate like Peter Obi were to join ADA, especially with support from the North, it could cause serious trouble for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.

He added that using a symbol like “Masara” (maize) as a campaign slogan in the North, where hunger is a major issue, could boost ADA’s appeal.

He believes that the South East and the growing Obi supporters, known as the “Obidients,” could also strengthen the movement.

“ADA is a brilliant work of political structuring! You were there at the 2024 Apostolic Round Table, ‘Steward of Nation’, with ‘Agbado Economics’ as our focus. ‘Agbado’ seed principle, we proposed that the government should build its economic policy on. But, today, that is what those behind ADA have chosen as their logo. Put a Peter Obi as the Presidential candidate on the ticket of a party the North birthed, and if they will be willing to defend the votes in the North like they will do one of their own, then Tinubu and the APC should better be ready for sleepless nights,” he said.
