As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to shift following the resignation of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27, 2025, veteran journalist and PDP Chieftain Dele Momodu has offered a pointed commentary on the unfolding drama. Speaking on the heels of the announcement by TVC News, Momodu took to his Instagram page to express his views, signaling a turbulent political future for the ruling party.

In a post reflecting on the sudden exit of Ganduje, who cited health reasons amid internal party strife and a legal challenge over regional zoning, Momodu wrote, “Interesting weeks and months ahead… One thing is clear, despite using all its power of Federal might and surreptitious coercion, the ruling party APC appears jittery of the next Presidential election and a lot of shuffling is ongoing…” His statement is said to suggest that Ganduje’s resignation is part of a broader strategy by the APC to consolidate power ahead of the 2027 elections.

Momodu further warned, “The APC does not want any competition from opposition and is blocking every political platform imaginable but it will ultimately reach a dead end, like all dictatorships…” This critique is said to come as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently confirmed over 100 associations seeking registration as political parties for 2027, hinting at a growing opposition landscape.
