Segun Showunmi made a tweet on his official X handle, formerly known as Twitter, reacting to a news report by Channels Television with the headline “President Tinubu Meets With Wike, Fubara, Rivers Lawmakers”.

In his post, Showunmi commended the president’s intervention in the political tensions rocking Rivers State, describing it as a demonstration of true leadership.

He emphasised the importance of conflict resolution over escalation and hailed the reconciliation efforts as a model worthy of study and emulation.

The statement of the good governance advocate about the decision of the president over the Rivers State political crisis read, “this is how to lead! A leader must resolve issues, not make them worse.”

Going further to hail the President, Showunmi stated that “there is nothing wrong with studying President Tinubu. After all, we study leaders in other climes. It is a weakness and a colonial mentality to think that one of our own cannot be learnt. Mr President, you do this one.”

He went further to thank the Governor of Rivers State, his predecessor and others, stating, “thank you, Governor Fubara; thank you, Minister Wike; thank you, Speaker, and his colleagues. Thank you, reasonable elders, who encouraged this.”

“This has always been my position. The journey from home is the same distance as the journey away from home. Team Rivers is back. Now let’s celebrate. Never again”, Showunmi added.
