Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has publicly declared the resolution of the political conflict that has gripped Rivers State for months, describing it as a settled family disagreement.

Speaking to journalists after a high-level meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Wike likened the crisis to a typical family dispute. “Just like humans, you have a disagreement and then you also have a time to settle your disagreement,” he said. “That has been finally concluded today.”

Wike revealed that the reconciliation was formally communicated to President Tinubu. “We have come to report to Mr. President that this is what we have agreed,” he stated. “So for me, everything is over.”

The rift between Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, had caused serious divisions within the state’s political leadership and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), sparking fears of instability. However, Wike’s comments suggest the impasse has been resolved through internal dialogue.

He urged all political actors and supporters to unite under the renewed spirit of peace. “I enjoy everybody who believes to work with us to also work together with everybody,” he said. “There’s no more criminal, there’s nothing to say we are disagreeing. We have all agreed on everything.”

The declaration comes as a relief to many in Rivers State and across the country who were concerned about the long-term impact of the feud on governance, development, and party cohesion.

Wike concluded his remarks with gratitude, stating, “Thank God. For me, it’s over.”

With both factions signaling a willingness to move forward, attention now turns to how the unity pact will be implemented on the ground and whether this reconciliation can withstand the test of future political challenges.
