According to Iran International English, Mohammad-Reza Sedighi Saber, a high-ranking figure linked to Iranian nuclear programme, was killed early Tuesday morning in what Iranian media describe as an Israeli airstrike on his family home in the northern city of Astaneh Ashrafieh.
Iranian outlets broadcast footage of emergency crews working to clear debris from the site of the destroyed residence. The strike reportedly flattened the home, and responders were seen combing through rubble for potential survivors or evidence.
“The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday,” state-affiliated sources said, without disclosing further details about potential casualties beyond Saber.

Saber had long been regarded as a key contributor to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. While Iranian officials have not publicly confirmed his exact role, local media framed his death as a significant loss to the country’s strategic scientific capabilities.
In a notable development, the Tuesday strike followed an alleged Israeli attempt days earlier to target Saber’s personal residence in Tehran. That incident, which was not officially acknowledged by Israeli authorities, reportedly left the building damaged but did not result in injuries.
So far, Israel has not commented on the latest strike. However, the country has consistently vowed to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions and has been linked to a series of covert actions aimed at undermining Tehran’s nuclear programme over the years.
The Iranian government has not issued a formal statement on the killing, but reactions from semi-official news agencies suggest rising tensions.
“Martyr Saber was one of the unknown soldiers of Iran’s nuclear and defense achievements,” one outlet stated, echoing language previously used to describe others who have died under similar circumstances.
The attack adds to a growing list of targeted killings and strikes widely attributed to Israel, reflecting the deepening shadow conflict between the two nations as diplomatic efforts over Iran’s nuclear programme remain stalled.
