Angela Tarbo, one of the survivors of the attack by alleged Fulani herdsmen in Yelewata, which claimed the lives of many residents, said that when the herdsmen reached out to her, they cut her head and her hand with a cutlass, and they poured petrol on the shop.
According to reports by the Sun News, Angela Tarbo said, “They started shooting and slaughtering people. When they reached me, they cut me on my head and my hand with a cutlass and poured petrol on the shop. Then they set the store on fire, and I struggled to escape with fire on my body.”
Angela recounted her traumatic experience, her voice barely above a whisper as she struggled to move due to her injuries. She described the night of the attack, saying they were asleep when the sound of rain filled the air. Suddenly, they heard noises that sounded like thunder but soon realized it was gunfire.
She said that the herdsmen broke into shops, shooting and slaughtering people. She was attacked, cut on the head and hand with a cutlass, and then petrol was poured on the shop, which was set ablaze. Angela struggled to escape with burns on her body. Many of her neighbors were severely affected, and some lost their lives. She credited her survival to divine intervention.
