Tragedy struck again in Dauda community, Benue State, just a day after a deadly attack by suspected herdsmen left four men dead.

In a shocking follow-up incident, three soldiers, one Mobile Police (MOPOL) officer, and a civilian identified as Mr. Onongo Tor were killed during a search mission for the victims’ bodies.

Speaking in an emotional interview with News Central TV from 5:56, a resident, Mr. Terna, described the second attack that occurred on Wednesday, June 12, 2025.

“After the Wednesday when those people were killed, on Thursday we carried soldiers to go and search their dead bodies. Those herdsmen ambushed us and killed three soldiers, one mopol and one Mr. Unogo Tor who was killed on that day and three soldiers,” Mr. Terna said.

The victims of the first attack on June 11 were identified as Matthew Kobo, Kwanzu, Ignatius and Amos. They had gone into the forest to fetch firewood when they were ambushed and killed.

The killings have sparked outrage and heightened fears among locals, with many calling for urgent government intervention. The Dauda community, like many others in Benue State has long been affected by the recurring clashes between herders and farmers.

Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement, but military sources confirm that investigations are underway and reinforcements have been deployed to the area.
