Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has firmly refuted recent reports circulating on social media suggesting that the state is under attack or experiencing security breakdowns.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Governor Mbah described the images and narratives being shared as “falsehoods” and “fake.”

The governor emphasized that some of the pictures and videos being circulated online are not only misleading but were never recorded in Enugu, urging the public to rely on verified information rather than sensational online content.

“I have seen some images recently of things that never happened here but you see them being peddled as though they happened here,” Mbah stated during the interview. “So if we discount those falsehood narratives, those fake narratives that we hear from the social media and deal with the reality, Enugu, as I mentioned, is unarguably the safest city in this country.”

Mbah went on to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, noting that ongoing investments in security infrastructure and intelligence gathering have significantly contributed to the state’s calm atmosphere.

In recent weeks, various social media accounts have circulated disturbing images and messages allegedly depicting violent incidents in Enugu. However, investigations have revealed that many of these visuals were either doctored or unrelated to the state.

Security experts and residents have echoed the governor’s stance, pointing to the steady drop in crime rates and the visible presence of law enforcement across urban and rural communities in Enugu.
