Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has expressed sadness over the death of two football legends and ex-Rangers Football Club stars, Stanley Okoronkwo and Harrison Mecha.

According to the statement made known by Peter Obi, he said he heard about the death of Stanley Okoronkwo and Harrison Mecha. He said both of them were retired footballers who enjoyed fulfilling football careers and contributed to the growth and development of sports sector in the country.

Speaking further, He said their death were a great loss to the football community and to Nigeria as a whole.

Peter Obi concluded his statement by praying for their souls to rest in peace. He also prayed for their families to find solace in this difficult time.

In his tweet, he wrote below:

“I have just learnt of the death of two football legends and ex-Rangers Football Club stars: Stanley Okoronkwo and Harrison Mecha. Both were retired footballers who enjoyed fulfilling football careers and contributed to the growth and development of our sports sector.

“Aside from the Rangers Football Club, they also played for other clubs, even at the national level, during their football careers. I sincerely condole with their respective families and pray God to grant them, all football lovers who enjoyed their style of play, and all of us, who mourn their death, the fortitude to bear their irreplaceable loss.
