Controversial Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has stirred reactions online after revealing the unusual reason behind his hefty N20 million event appearance fee.
In a dramatic video shared on his social media page, Yul documented his recent appearance at an event in his hometown, where he arrived in grand style, performing what he described as a powerful spiritual act. According to the actor, the N20 million fee is justified — not just for his presence, but for the spiritual entourage he claims to bring along.
“I don’t come alone,” Yul said in the video. “I come with my ancestors and 10,000 spirits from my village. That’s why I charge N20 million. It’s not ordinary.”
The clip, which has since gone viral, shows Yul arriving at the event alongside a young man dressed like a native doctor, performing traditional rites using a calabash pot filled with smoke. The theatrical display, mixed with loud traditional music and Yul dancing joyfully, turned the event into a scene straight out of a Nollywood epic.
Yul also boasted that the event was “on fire” after his performance, claiming his presence transformed the entire energy of the gathering.
Online reactions have been mixed. While some fans applauded the actor for his creativity and branding, others criticized the performance as a publicity stunt, accusing him of leaning heavily into theatrics for attention.
