The State’s Reps caucus criticized Dickson over his stance on the emergency rule, while reports indicated that the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, had made renewed efforts to reconcile with his estranged political mentor, Nyesom Wike.

According to The Nation, it was gathered that Fubara visited the Federal Capital Territory Minister at his Abuja residence on Monday for peace talks. Although the specific details of their conversation were not disclosed, the meeting reportedly took place against the backdrop of renewed calls from various quarters for Fubara’s reinstatement.

Sources also noted that some of the governor’s supporters had been hopeful that President Bola Tinubu would use his Democracy Day address at the National Assembly on Thursday to announce an end to the governor’s suspension and revoke the emergency rule in the state.

Sources informed The Nation that Fubara had not made any attempt to meet with the pro-Wike state legislators who were likewise suspended under the emergency rule.

A former Local Government Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, stated that there was nothing exciting about Governor Fubara’s return to office in the absence of reconciliation. He noted that no reconciliatory meeting had taken place between the governor and the state legislators, and maintained that Fubara was behaving like an ostrich by ignoring the underlying issues.

He said, “What’s the hullabaloo about his coming back ? He has been told many times to go and make peace. Assuming he comes back, has the problem with the House Assembly been resolved ? The lawmakers will throw him out, because there’s nothing like the Chief Judge setting up any panel. The Supreme Court has already itemised all his sins.”

Further talking, he said, “I’m bothered about governance in Rivers State. Others have moved on. See what’s happening in Enugu State and Delta State. That is our priority. Fubara is playing the ostrich. Going to see the President, and taking photograph, does it stop the problem?”
