In a surprising twist within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, has voiced strong disappointment at the recent turn of events involving party chieftain Sam Otom, in the video from 3:33. His comments come in response to Otom’s sudden objections to a decision that had earlier been unanimously agreed upon—to resolve the contentious issue of the Southern Zonal Executive and the fate of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for June 30.

Ologbodiyan, clearly taken aback, questioned the integrity of Otom’s recent stance, accusing him of shifting positions for reasons yet unknown. In his words:

“I am confused, he sat right before us, but didn’t raise any single objections. I can recall it was only former governor of Gombe, Dakwambo, who sat between us. He will now turn around and begin to raise issues about a meeting he attended, when he didn’t even say any word.”

The former PDP spokesperson pointed to the consistency expected in party leadership, especially when crucial decisions are on the table. Ologbodiyan stressed that Sam Otom was physically present at the meeting where the decision to shift the matter to the June NEC was reached, and at no point did he voice concerns or objections. The sudden emergence of dissent from Otom, according to him, not only undermines the process but also threatens the unity and credibility of the party leadership.

He continued, “I espect him to go back to that group and say, now whatever issues we have, let’s table it at the NEC meeting as initially planned.”

Ologbodiyan’s remarks highlight growing internal tensions within the PDP as the NEC meeting draws near. With the position of National Secretary—currently held by Senator Samuel Anyanwu—under scrutiny, the stakes are high. The party’s ability to manage dissenting voices and enforce internal consensus will be critical as it seeks to maintain cohesion ahead of broader political challenges.

The unfolding drama has stirred reactions among party faithful, many of whom are watching closely to see how this rift will be handled. Will the party stay true to its procedural commitments, or will internal cracks widen as differing interests clash?

As the date for the NEC meeting approaches, all eyes will be on the PDP leadership to uphold unity, discipline, and respect for collective decisions—principles that have long been the foundation of the party’s survival and relevance.
