In a recent interview with Channels Television from 8:55, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, weighed in on concerns surrounding the loyalty of PDP governors amid speculations of defection and alignment with the ruling party.
Addressing growing scrutiny over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to President Bola Tinubu, Ologbondiyan defended the Osun governor’s explanation of a family reunion while emphasising the challenges facing the PDP.
He noted that key figures like Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State are taking proactive steps to rejuvenate the party’s democratic ideals and reaffirmed that Governor Bala Mohammed has not indicated any intention to leave the party.
The words of Ologbondiyan at some point during the interview read, “people were particular about Governor Adeleke that he went to see President Tinubu; well, Adeleke has come out to defend himself that he went for a family reunion, and perhaps there is a relationship in the family.”
He further stated that, “I will not judge anybody until they commit their action. For me, I don’t know who the last standing PDP governor will be, but let me tell you that what I know is that there is a conscious effort within the PDP.”
“The governors of the PDP are challenged now to reinvent democracy to meet the exigencies of this time, and one person that is hugely acting on this is Governor Makinde of Oyo State.”
“I am also aware that Governor Bala Mohammed hasn’t told anybody that he is going to defect or run away from the party.” He said
