Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has leveled serious accusations against President Bola Tinubu, claiming the President has enabled and continues to sustain what he described as “undemocratic developments” in Rivers State.

In a video interview aired on Viable TV from 5:41, the former Bayelsa State governor expressed strong disappointment with the President’s handling of the Rivers State political crisis.

“I am disappointed, firstly, that the President never said a word about the undemocratic developments in Rivers State, which he has enabled, which he has brought about, which he has sanctioned, and which he continues to sustain, creating an impression as if all is well,” Dickson stated during the television appearance.

The senator went further to characterize the situation in Rivers State as tantamount to military rule, warning of its implications for Nigeria’s democracy.

“No. As long as any part of Nigeria is under military rule, democracy is endangered in Nigeria as a whole,” he declared, suggesting that the current state of affairs in Rivers threatens the entire country’s democratic framework.

Dickson revealed that he has been engaging with lawmakers from other regions about his concerns regarding the Rivers State situation.

“And I’ve spoken to my brothers, friends and sisters in the southwest, some of them in the National Assembly, because as some of you may know, I’m also maternally Yoruba and proudly so,” the senator disclosed.

His comments represent some of the strongest criticism yet directed at the President regarding the federal government’s approach to resolving the ongoing political impasse in Rivers State.

The senator’s reference to his Yoruba heritage appears to underscore his efforts to build cross-regional support for addressing what he perceives as a threat to democratic governance in the oil-rich state.
