According to a report by The Punch, the presidency has taken a swipe at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following his recent interview on Arise Television. The criticism came from Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, who expressed his views via a post on his official X account.
Bwala’s remarks came after the interview sparked wide commentary online, with many viewers praising the tone and approach of the conversation. However, the presidency’s spokesman questioned the credibility of the session, suggesting that the interview lacked the usual journalistic scrutiny expected in such high-profile discussions.
According to him, “He seems to have very shallow knowledge of economics and governance. Remember, this is even an interview anchored by a member of his Obidient movement. That’s why you don’t hear ‘I put it to you’ and no barking like a rottweiler; yet ‘if it didn’t Dey, it didn’t Dey.’”
Bwala implied that the tone of the interview was unusually soft, lacking the probing style often associated with Arise Television. He appeared to suggest that the interviewer’s sympathy for Obi’s movement may have influenced the approach, resulting in a more accommodating conversation than usual.
