According to a report from ThisDay on Sunday, June 8, Former Bayelsa State governor and Senator Seriake Dickson has sharply criticized a coalition of political figures opposing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, labeling them as the same individuals responsible for the downfall of former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at a recent event celebrating the 60th birthday of former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Dickson expressed his dismay over the coalition’s track record and their failure to deliver on promises made to Nigerians.
“They are expert conspirators who know how to assemble coalitions to topple governments,” Dickson stated, referring to key players like Nasir El-Rufai, Amaechi, and Atiku Abubakar. He emphasized that their actions in 2015, which led to Jonathan’s ousting, did not result in the promised improvements for the nation. “Now, eleven years later, we see no alleviation of poverty or resolution of Nigeria’s pressing challenges,” he added.
Dickson further lamented the coalition’s inability to address the issues that have plagued the country since they took power. “The so-called clueless government you removed has been replaced, yet the problems remain. We expected a change, but instead, we have witnessed a weaponization of poverty,” he remarked.
In response to Amaechi’s recent comments about hunger, Dickson suggested that the former minister’s claims reflect a deeper hunger for power rather than for sustenance. “When you claim to be hungry, it’s not food you seek but a return to the privileges of power,” he asserted.
