Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, indicated that he would not be part of any proposed opposition coalition seeking to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

According to The Nation, it was made known that instead, he reportedly reaffirmed his intention to contest the presidency again under the banner of the Labour Party.

In a video circulating on the party’s WhatsApp platform and recorded by a television station, Obi was seen addressing a group of young supporters, assuring them of his continued political engagement through the LP.

The former governor of Anambra State also suggested that the internal conflicts within both the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were being instigated by external forces linked to the federal government. He described these divisions as intentional efforts to weaken the opposition ahead of the next general election.
