Nyesom Wike the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has stated that the land department recently released a list of individuals and organizations who had not paid their ground rent for periods ranging from one to ten years in Abuja
Speaking in a coverage shared by ESET TV, Wike said he personally went through the list and discovered the name of Olabode George, former military Governor of Ondo State. He pointed out that George’s name was listed at number 3092 on the list.
Wike stated that the issue of unpaid ground rent had become a major concern in the FCT, and the his administration would no longer tolerate it.
In Wike’s words: “I saw the land department publish the non-payment of ground rent from more than 1 years to 10 years and said look go and pay. In that (list) number 3092 you know whose name is there? Olabode George, he is number 3092. At that level, senior citizen (sic)
