Ichie Fred Chukwulobe, former Secretary to former Anambra State Governor Chris Ngige, has voiced concerns over Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition under the Labour Party, warning that powerful political forces are likely to mobilise against him.

In a recent commentary, Chukwulobe expressed scepticism about any serious opposition candidate’s chances of reaching Aso Rock, citing the entrenched dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and dismissing political unrest in the North as the work of “disgruntled politicians,” including former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, whom he said was upset after missing out on a ministerial appointment.

He highlighted the situation of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, noting that although El-Rufai was denied a ministerial appointment, President Bola Tinubu will manage the matter internally.

Chukwulobe also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential prospects, labelling him as “desperate” with no viable path to victory in 2027.

He emphasised that Atiku would never accept a running mate position and questioned his ability to secure the presidency.

In his words, Fred said, “Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who was denied a ministerial appointment, Tinubu will handle him. Let’s not forget that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu remains the National Security Adviser, and he’s not disgruntled.”

“Atiku Abubakar is desperate to become president. He will never be a running mate to anybody. He has no pathway to the presidency,” Chukwulobe added.
