Austin Usman, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has spoken out about the ongoing crisis within the party. In an interview with TVC News from 8:25, Usman explained how the conflict between Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is hurting the PDP.

Wike recently stepped away from peace talks, blaming Makinde and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for causing problems. Usman found this surprising because Wike and Makinde were once close allies. He reminded Nigerians that they were both part of the G5 governors who supported Bola Tinubu in the last presidential election, even though they were still in the PDP at the time.

Usman questioned the nature of the agreement Wike claims was broken. He asked if Makinde even had the authority to make such agreements on behalf of the PDP. “Is Makinde the acting national chairman or just the chairman of the governors’ forum?” he asked.

Usman also pointed out that this isn’t the first time Wike has felt betrayed. He said leaders like former PDP chairman Uche Secondus, Atiku Abubakar, and Aminu Tambuwal had all betrayed Wike in the past.

“From the time of Secondus, Atiku, and Tambuwal, all of them, everybody has been betraying Wike. What’s this agreement between Wike and the leadership of PDP,” he said.

He urged the PDP leadership and Wike’s allies to be transparent and tell the public the truth instead of simply blaming each other. According to Usman, it’s time for honesty and openness within the party.
