Former Kaduna South lawmaker and renowned human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani recently dropped a bombshell regarding widespread beliefs about those inhabiting the Northern part of Nigeria. According to his statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the way poverty was been talked about in the north made it look like it’s all wealth and and paradise in the southern region.
While it was widely believed that inhabitants of the Northern region were less financially stable than their Northern counterparts, former Kaduna South lawmaker and renowned human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani has disputed the assertions.
This came following the comments of former Anambra State governor and presidential aspirant of the Labour Party, Peter Obi that the northern region had a lot of untapped potentials.
In his statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that some persons made derogatory remarks about the northern region as if the South was way better off.
According to Senator Shehu Sani, most people talked about poverty in the north as if the South was all about wealth, abundance and paradise. This, the senator who was well known for his outspokenness was asserting his beliefs that each region has it’s own challenges.

“The way some people talk about poverty in Northern Nigeria looks as if it’s all wealth, abundance and paradise in Southern Nigeria.” Senator Shehu Sani wrote.
