Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has been actively engaged across Nigeria and internationally in recent days, demonstrating his leadership agility and commitment.

According to Dr. Moses Paul, an aide to Obi, the former governor’s schedule was notably packed.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, he wrote, “Mr Peter Obi was in Abuja on Wednesday. By Thursday, he was in Lagos. On Friday, he was in Benin for various engagements, including the burial of @OlumideAkpata’s father. He also attended events across the Southeast. By Saturday, he had already departed for Rome, and today, he is back in Abuja holding meetings.”

This timeline highlights Obi’s ability to be responsive and present across multiple fronts.

Obi’s recent international engagement included attending the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, where he was seen alongside former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with whom he shared a brief conversation.

Dr. Moses Paul praised Obi’s leadership style, emphasizing the importance of energy, competence, and consistency in governance.

He contrasted Obi’s vigor with the tendency in Nigeria for older politicians, often in their 70s to 90s, to seek leadership roles despite lacking the physical capacity or contemporary relevance required.

“The newly chosen Pope, at 69, was selected for his experience and vitality. Yet in Nigeria, individuals in their 70s, 80s, and even 90s continue to vie for leadership positions without the physical capacity or contemporary relevance required for such demanding roles,” he wrote.

Paul argued that Nigeria’s future depends on entrusting leadership to those with the vitality and ideas to meet today’s challenges, ideally leaders born after independence.

He described Obi as “picture-perfect” for this role, embodying the drive and energy needed to build a Nigeria that works.

Obi’s engagements reflect his ongoing political relevance and efforts to maintain influence ahead of the 2027 elections.

His presence at key events and meetings across Nigeria and abroad underscores a proactive approach to leadership that combines local responsiveness with global awareness.
