A young Nigerian woman has shared her heartbreaking story after she was deceived and trafficked to Egypt by a friend who promised her a job at a hair salon. Instead of working in a salon, she ended up doing hard house chores and faced abuse in a stranger’s home.

In an interview with Arise Television from 9.11, she explained that she was forced to clean, and sometimes even asked to do jobs like electrical work, which she didn’t know how to do. When she couldn’t do the work, she was beaten. She tried to complain to the man who brought her to Egypt — her “sponsor” — but he told her it wasn’t his problem. All he cared about was getting paid.

The Lady revealed that her sponsor took her passport and told her she had to work for one year and six months to earn it back. When she asked to leave the abusive home, he refused. He even threatened to take her to a place where women are forced into prostitution if she didn’t continue.

She described how some of the Egyptian men in the houses she worked in would try to touch her inappropriately. If she resisted, they would threaten to kill her. “And those Egyptian men, if you’re working in the house, they like touching you, and when you say no, they will say they’ll kill you,” she said. Feeling trapped and hopeless, she once tried to drink bleach to end her life.

Eventually, she told her mother back in Nigeria about her suffering. Her mother and uncle worked together to get help, and she was finally rescued and brought back home.
