Olasunkanmi, a post-graduate student, has recently expressed his views on the trend of politicians defecting from various political parties to join the ruling APC.

In a video shared by VANGUARD from 3:46, He pointed out that many Nigerian politicians tend to align with those in power, suggesting that these changes are driven more by the desire for influence than by political beliefs.

He mentioned that even politicians who seem to oppose the ruling party often do so because they lack the opportunity to join it. He believes that if they had the chance, they would also switch.

Olasunkanmi expressed doubt about whether the recent political shifts can truly be called defections. He predicted that in the coming six months, there could be a significant increase in these shifts.

He said,

“All Nigerian politicians always like to be in the party in power. If you check the records very well you will see. They’re not doing it based on party ideologies; even those who seem to be in opposition it’s because they don’t have their way. If they have their way, they would also join. We have not seen defection; is it what’s happening recently that you’re calling defection? Give it six months more, and you will see the mother of defections.”
