Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, a member of the Rivers State Elders and Leaders Council and the pioneer spokesman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, described Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a significant sacrifice made for the sake of peace in Rivers State.

According to The Punch, reacting to the meeting, Sara-Igbe remarked that the suspended governor had consistently demonstrated a genuine commitment to peace, in contrast to what he referred to as Wike’s confrontational approach.

He said, “That discussion is not for public consumption, except the FCT Minister wants to make it public. At the end of the day, we will hear the result.”

He lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s move, emphasising that peace often requires personal sacrifices.

Further talking, he said, “Of course, the governor wants peace all through. The governor is looking for peace. It’s Wike who does not want peace, and if somebody is looking for peace, you must make sacrifices. You cannot get any peace without sacrifice.”

He added that Governor Fubara is a leader for all, emphasizing that the visit was not driven by pride but by a desire for constructive dialogue. With humility, Fubara went to meet Wike to discuss important matters, and they were able to have a productive conversation.

Confirming the meeting, Nyesom Wike stated during a live media chat on Monday that Governor Fubara had visited him at his residence in Port Harcourt. Wike revealed that the suspended governor was accompanied by two governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and another unnamed individual.
