Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, during an interview with The Vanguard correspondent, spoke on the anti-Tinubu coalition headed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the gale of defections into the All Progressives Congress.

During the interview, she was informed that the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appeared to be thinning. It was noted that the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori; his deputy, Monday Onyeme; and former governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa had reportedly moved all PDP structures in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC). She was then asked what she believed was responsible for the wave of defections, especially in light of reports suggesting that more PDP governors might also be planning to defect.

While she was responding, she said, “First, I do not know whether more governors are likely to defect. But you’ve to look at what Adams Oshiomole once said, that once you move into the All Progressives Congress, your sins are forgiven.”

Further talking, she said, “Obviously, they (defectors) have sins that they want to be forgiven. That is why I think they are all moving to the All Progressives Congress. Really and truly, I don’t feel that the All Progressives Congress is a political party. I believe All Progressives Congress is a mafia organisation.”
