According to a report by DAILY POST, the Obidient Movement has addressed recent remarks by Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), regarding Peter Obi’s role in national politics.

Sowore, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Inside Sources, questioned Obi’s status as an opposition figure.

He suggested that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate has not actively challenged the current administration’s policies and cited Obi’s silence on issues such as fuel price hikes as evidence.

In response, Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, defended Obi’s significance in the nation’s political landscape.

Speaking to Channels Television, Tanko highlighted the continued public and media attention surrounding Obi, arguing that his presence in political discussions reflects his influence.

Tanko said, “So, the question we want to ask is this: when someone is not a worthy opposition, why do you keep talking about him? As we stand today in Nigerian politics, if they don’t talk about Peter Obi, none of them gets traction. None.”

Tanko further criticized recent remarks made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at a memorial event for the late Chief Edwin Clark, where Obi was mentioned.

He viewed such comments as an attempt to undermine Obi’s character rather than engage with his political views.

According to Tanko, Obi remains committed to advocating for systemic change and representing the interests of Nigerians, and the movement backing him intends to continue supporting that mission.
