According to a report by DAILY POST, Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has expressed a lack of urgency or desire to reclaim his position.

He made these comments during a service of songs held in Port Harcourt to honor the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, on Sunday.

Fubara appeared to address repeated references to him as “Governor” by various speakers at the event, many of whom also called for his reinstatement.

In response, he suggested that he had emotionally and mentally moved on from the role.

“Can’t you see how better I look? Do you think I am interested in it?

“Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit had already left that place long ago,” he said.

He also advised attendees to concentrate on commemorating Edwin Clark’s legacy, highlighting the elder statesman’s lifelong dedication to championing the interests of the Niger Delta, rather than diverting attention to political matters.

Fubara, along with his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly, was suspended by President Bola Tinubu following the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

In the aftermath, Tinubu appointed retired naval officer Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the oil-producing state.
