A board member of the Obedient Movement, Ikenna Azomchine has criticized officials of the Labour Party accusing them of betrayal and mismanagement after being empowered by Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV from 0:46, Azomchine described the party officials as “ungrateful” and blamed Peter Obi for giving them roles they were not qualified for which he said has now led to internal crisis and misconduct within the party.

“I am just looking at these funny guys, Labour Party officials. These are a bunch of ungrateful people,” Azomchine said. “As Obidients, we spoiled these guys.

They were so hungry, and then suddenly Peter came. Because Peter was a good man, he didn’t want to change them. He gave them responsibilities and positions that they normally shouldn’t handle and this is the repercussion.”

The Labour Party has been facing internal wrangling, with various party members accusing each other of mismanagement and lack of transparency. The recent wave of suspensions, counter-suspensions, and public outbursts has raised concerns about the party’s unity and future.

Azomchine’s remarks reflect growing frustrations among members of the Obedient Movement a group of supporters who rallied behind Peter Obi during the 2023 elections many of whom feel that the party has strayed from its original values of integrity and discipline.

Political observers say the crisis could damage the party’s credibility ahead of the next election cycle if not resolved quickly. Meanwhile, Peter Obi has yet to publicly address the latest accusations and party infighting.
