Jake Epelle, the founder of The Albino Foundation, recently shared his thoughts during an interview with Silverbird Television on the ongoing political crisis between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and former Governor Nyesom Wike. He spoke about the efforts being made to bring peace between the two leaders.

Epelle said that what seems like peace between the two may not be real. He believes that if what he has heard is true, then Wike might be realizing that it is time to make peace with Fubara. “If what I’m hearing becomes a reality, I think Wike knows that he has to look for a way to mend fences with Fubara,” he said. According to him, Governor Fubara appears more interested in ending the conflict than Wike.

However, Epelle noted that both leaders do not trust each other, and the people close to them also lack trust. He described the current peace process as a “pseudo move,” meaning it doesn’t feel real. This, he said, is worrying for the people of Rivers State.

He explained that the people are reacting because they care about their state and want true peace. Sometimes, their reactions may seem negative, but they come from a place of concern.

Epelle praised the Rivers people as strong, peaceful, and law-abiding. He reminded viewers that Rivers State has a long history of contact with the Western world, which has helped shape their civil nature.

Epelle believes that real peace can only happen if both Wike and Fubara are honest and ready to move past their differences for the good of the state.
