According to a report by The Sun, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State has voiced strong disapproval of the current administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke, declaring that the state deserves more competent leadership in the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election.

In a statement released by the party, the NNPP described the present condition of Osun as “pitiable” and attributed the state’s challenges to poor governance.

The party emphasized the urgent need for change, claiming that the state has lost its prominence due to what it termed as administrative failures.

Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the NNPP State Chairman, expressed deep concern over what he described as a “double jeopardy” for Osun’s development.

According to him, the governance structure has become confusing and ineffective, with the state being overseen by what he labeled as three different governors; a ceremonial figurehead, an administrative operator, and a technical overseer.

This fragmentation, he asserted, has reduced governance to a mere jamboree, lacking direction and coordination.

The NNPP pledged to present a credible and competent candidate in the 2026 election, one who possesses the knowledge and integrity required to lead the state effectively. The party called on other political groups and stakeholders to join forces in restoring Osun’s dignity and development.

He said, “Governance has been reduced to jamboree as the state is now being governed by three governors; they have a ceremonial governor, an Administrative Governor and a Technical Governor. Osun needs to be delivered from the shackles of those political parties we have tested but not trusted.”
