In a bold display of generosity and unity, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has donated one cow and N1 million to each of the 319 wards across the 23 local government areas in Rivers, to mark the Easter celebration.
The act, which comes amid the ongoing political crisis and state of emergency declared in the state by President Bola Tinubu, is seen by many as a statement of peace, resilience, and people-centered leadership. Despite attempts to undermine his administration, Governor Fubara has remained focused on governance and connecting with the grassroots.
Supporters in Port Harcourt hailed the gesture, describing it as an unprecedented act of love and commitment to the people. “While others sow division, our governor chose to unite the people with celebration,” a local leader said.
Many praised Fubara for refusing to be deterred by the emergency rule or recent political developments. “He could have given excuses, but he said no, my people need to feel the spirit of Easter,” one supporter noted.
This move, supporters say, reflects his continued refusal to be drawn into political bitterness, even as accusations of bias trail the sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd), for allegedly favoring loyalists of the FCT Minister in local appointments.
While the political atmosphere remains tense, Governor Fubara’s Easter outreach has ignited hope and solidarity among the people. His ability to maintain composure and demonstrate leadership through action continues to gain him admiration across the state.
