In a recent interview with THE SUN, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi highlighted Dr. Peter Odili as the most influential mentor in his life after his father.
Amaechi regarded Odili as a pivotal figure in his growth, recognizing the important role he played during his formative years. He conveyed a deep respect for Odili, stating that he would never criticize him, no matter the situation.
A significant moment he recalled was when he encountered financial struggles after his father’s passing. He found it challenging to organize the burial, and Dr. Odili provided essential financial assistance during that difficult time.
Although he sometimes feels the urge to confront certain past issues with Odili, Amaechi acknowledges the vital contribution Odili made to his success.
He realizes that mentors like Odili can have a profound impact on both personal and professional development, and he remains appreciative of the support he received.
He said,
“Dr (Peter) Odili was one. In my growing up, he had a huge role to play. You see, that is why no matter what they do to me, I won’t talk about Dr Odili and I will never insult him. Never! Never! He had a huge influence in my life. He contributed quite a lot. He even helped me bury my dad when my father died.”
