Umma Ghetso, political activist and former vice presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has taken a swipe at Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, saying her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to be politically driven.

Ghetso, in an interview with The Sun, questioned the credibility of the accusations, arguing that public support for Natasha is rooted more in sentiment than facts. “It’s because of the hate Nigerians have for Akpabio, by extension the National Assembly, which is why it appears Natasha is winning,” she said.

She pointed to what she described as a repeated pattern in Natasha’s past, stating that the senator had previously accused other men — including Reno Omokri and even her current husband — of misconduct. “She has done it to a lot of men in all this her cheap frame-up,” Ghetso added. She warned that such tactics risk misrepresenting Nigerian women in politics. “This kind of woman is not the type to be representing us, the women folk,” she said.

Despite backlash, Ghetso stood by her comments, saying she spoke out based on conviction and available facts. “As a politician, you must at any time take a position… even if people rain abuses on you,” she concluded.
