Buba Galadima, a former political ally of former President Muhammadu Buhari, during an interview with The Vanguard correspondent, laments that all those who in power in the country were only concerned about themselves rather than the people they swore to serve.
While reacting to the claim that the northern region is not happy with Tinubu and APC government, he stated that the public sentiment could be easily observed through newspapers and social media, where people’s reactions revealed their mood. He asked whether anyone had looked at social media to see the responses to the invitation extended to Emir Sanusi by the Inspector General of Police. He pointed out that the situation in Kano reflected widespread public discontent.
He said, “If all of us come out, they will all run away including the IGP and the defence corps. They will run, tell them I said so. They have nothing, they have only one life. The gun which the police and military are carrying is something anyone can buy in the market now.”
Further expressing his thoughts, he questioned whether the Inspector General of Police (IGP) could ever summon the Oba of Lagos over an incident the traditional ruler knew nothing about, suggesting that such an action would be unthinkable. He asserted that those involved in the situation knew exactly what had happened, who was responsible, and who had met with whom to make the decision.
He claimed that the IGP was acting based on an instruction that was unlawful and was simply following orders that should not have been carried out. He urged that the IGP be reminded of the words of General Theophilus Danjuma following the Gideon Orkar coup, when Danjuma stated that the military was not obligated to obey illegal commands.
