Ikenga Ugochinyere, a Nigerian lawmaker, publicly criticizes the Rivers State sole administrator, Ibas, for summoning the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara. He raised concerns about Ibas’s presence in Port Harcourt, questioning why he continues to stay there without a clear purpose, especially since he was appointed to restore peace in a state that is currently free from major conflict.
Speaking in a video shared by SYMFONI TV, Ugochinyere asserts that Fubara, despite being suspended, is still a legitimate governor because he was elected and remains under oath for his tenure. He noted that Ibas has not effectively fulfilled his role as an administrator and questions whether he is actively managing any governance.
He said,
“Fubara is a governor, elected and still under oath, that have a tenure despite these interruptions. Ibas is someone who came purportedly to restore peace, even when there’s no war going on. Now he has left his assignment. Does he have an administration? He had an assignment, and there is nothing on the ground that requires him to continue to hang around Port Harcourt in the name of whatever it’s called.”
