In an interview with TVC News, Kennedy Angbo, the Member representing Otukpo-Apa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, expressed deep concern over the recent killing of at least seven people in the Otobi community of Otukpo Local Government Area. The lawmaker alleged that the attack, which left over 20 others injured and many homes destroyed, was not only coordinated but had been premeditated by an individual familiar with the area.
According to Hon. Angbo, the attack came barely a day after a threatening Facebook post was made by one Bashir Adamu, a Fulani man born in Otobi and known to rear cattle in Omebe, a nearby settlement. The lawmaker emphasized that this individual’s connection to the area raises serious security concerns, especially as his threat was followed almost immediately by a well-planned assault on the community.
Angbo described the attack as a two-pronged invasion, with assailants striking from both flanks to maximize destruction and fear. The way the attackers moved into the community, he noted, indicated that it wasn’t a spontaneous or isolated incident, but a deliberate and organized operation.

“Prior to this attack, there was a threat by one Bashir Adamu who was born in Otobi and also was rearing cows in Omebe close to Otobi. Just yesterday, he posted on his Facebook that his aqua enemies should watch out—that they are coming for us. And just over 24 hours of making that post, this attack was carried out coordinatedly from both flanks,” said Kennedy Angbo, in the TVC News interview.
