The executive governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara has reacted after seeing the large number of women who protested in support of emergency rule in Rivers state.
His reaction was contained in a report that was published on the official X handle of DAILY POST on Tuesday.
It would be recalled that the women protested in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to replace Siminalayi Fubara with Rtd Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the Sole Administrator.
However, in a statement that was made by Jerry Omatsogunwa, the Special Adviser to Governor Fubara on Electronic Media, it was stated that the police treated the women who protested in support of the emergency rule better than those who protested against it.
He said it is undemocratic for the police to have acted in such manner. He however, described the women who were teargassed while protesting against the emergency rule as the true heroes of democracy.
He was quoted as saying that;
“Old women came out in Ahoada to exercise their right to protest. The police teargassed them to the extent that one of them, an old woman, fainted”.
