Former Minister Solomon Dalung has spoken about the 16 hunters who were killed by a mob in Uromi, Edo State. He said the people who carried out the killings should be arrested and shown to the public.
In a press statement covered by Symfoni TV from 14:48, Dalung said some of the attackers had already exposed themselves by posting a video online, so they are not unknown. He stated that there must be a clear and honest investigation to find out exactly what happened. He said such a process would help make sure the people responsible are held accountable.
Dalung also said the Edo State government should pay compensation to the families of all 16 men.
In Dalung’s words: “The suspects should be paraded because the suspects had also identified themselves by the video they produced and sent online, so they are known. We are saying that this transparent investigation will lead to accountability, and in the final analysis Edo State government will have to pay compensation to for the lives of these 16 people that died in transit”
